BORIS
JAKOPOVIC
Boris Jakopović, PhD, completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and earned his PhD in 2021 at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Drug Development, University of Rijeka, defending his doctoral dissertation titled “Antitumor Mechanisms of Biologically Active Compounds from Medicinal Mushrooms in a Colorectal Cancer Model.”
He is the author of about fifteen original scientific papers published in leading international journals and has presented his work at numerous international scientific conferences. He also authored a chapter on proteomic research on the medicinal properties of mushrooms in the book “Mushrooms with Therapeutic Potentials: Recent Advances in Research and Development,” published in 2023 by Springer Nature.
His research interests include cancer biology and therapy, proteomics, and systems biology. Since January 2022, he has been a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms (Begell House, USA) and a member of the International Scientific Committee of the International Medicinal Mushrooms Conference (IMMC).
In addition to his academic work, he is the R&D CEO of Dr Myko San Co., where he focuses on the translation of medicinal mushroom research into scientifically grounded products and applications. He is also a member of the Croatian Association for Cancer Research (HDIR).
