Prof. Dr. Omoan S. Isikhuemhen is Professor of Fungal Biology and Fungal Biotechnology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, USA, where he directs the Mushroom Biology and Fungal Biotechnology Laboratory. An internationally recognized mycologist, his research focuses on edible and medicinal mushroom cultivation, fungal biotechnology, mycoremediation, functional foods, and sustainable agriculture. He has pioneered innovative cultivation technologies, including advances in commercial truffle production in North America, and oversees one of the largest shiitake culture collections in the Americas. Prof. Isikhuemhen has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and has played a leading role in advancing the application of fungi for human and animal health, environmental remediation, and food security. He serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms and is widely recognized for bridging traditional knowledge, scientific innovation, and industrial application through his research, mentorship, and international collaborations.
