Ulrike Lindequist has studied pharmacy and received her PhD in pharmaceutical biology from the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University Greifswald, Germany. Since 1992, she was Professor and head of the Department for Pharmaceutical Biology at the University Greifswald. 

She has been emeritus since 2016. Main focus of her scientific work were and are bioactive compounds from medicinal mushrooms, plants and marine microorganisms with a special focus on pharmacology, toxicology, analytics, and quality ensurement. 

She has published more than 300 scientific papers, several monographs, patents and books about „Biogenic Drugs“ and „Biogenic Toxins“. In December 2025, volume 5 of the book series „Natural Poisons and Venoms“, which she co-edited, was published by De Gruyter Publisher, Berlin/Boston. It covers Fungal and Microbial Toxins. The former volumes 1–4 (published 2023 and 2024) were devoted to the toxins of plants and animals.
